RACING STRUGGLE

Racing Club failed to continue their winning ways after only managing a 1-1 draw with Olimpo during the weekend. This result coupled with victories for their main title rivals like River Plate and Independiente saw the team pushed to fourth place in the table.

Despite these dropped points, striker Diego Milito was remaining confident of doing something great this season. The former Genova and Inter Milan striker says that Racing Club still have a relatively new team and to have taken 23 points for far is an incredible achievement.

He says that the coach Diego Cocca has been doing a fine job so far. At this point in time, Milito believes that Cocca should be backed with patience more than anything. Racing have managed just three wins in the last five matches whereas their main title rivals have gone undefeated during this period. River Plate continue to dominate the league with 31 points. This means that Racing realistically will be looking to finish second or third in the table. Despite Milito being the star named the squad, other strikers like Bou have been able to claim limelight after scoring eight goals so far. Milito himself has four to his name and he will be hoping to improve this record in the coming weeks.

"This team is very positive. No doubt, we must not forget where we came from. We are a new team. We have 23 points and are 18 and balance so far is very good. Overall the championship we are doing is good. We are a new training team and sometimes that is reflected in the games. We always had very clear about our objectives. We have to try to win games to finish in the best way the Championship. The idea is to have continuity and to be protagonists in each Championship,” said Milito.
